What is a Drozd?
Drozd /drɔst/: From Proto-Slavic drozdъ meaning thrush, an agile songbird found across Eurasia often with spotted underbellies such as the bluebird, nightingale, and robin. This species often rebuilds its nest with vigilance; it is distinguished among others with its pursuit of perfection.
About this site
Drozd.com is not a typical blog…I’ve choosen to produce a site that is always up-to-date and can evolve along with rest of the world. The information you read here will always be an accurate reflection of my current ideas on various topics covering technology, project management, standards-based web design, photography, programming, etc. Everything I write is under version control, so you still have the ability to reference historical versions of articles, if so desired.
I highly encourage participation through email correspondence and writing thought-out responses published via your chosen platform; or leave comments on a published article. If you get in touch and our conversation generates an interesting dialog, there’s a good chance that I will add more details to the appropriate article or write something entirely new. We’ll see how this experiment goes!
Colophon
Drozd.com is hosted on a privately-clouded VMware VPS. The server runs Nginx on top of CentOS Linux and has its configuration managed via Webmin using it’s respective modules. The site itself is completely static, but uses a combination of PHP with JQuery to generate the HTML, with Sass to generate the CSS. The site’s syndication feed is also generated by PHP, but ultimately gets distributed via FeedBurner.
It’s all tracked with Git and can be freely explored in my code repositories.
